About Chinese Martial Arts Society of New ZealandThe Chinese Martial Arts Society of NZ was founded on August 15, 1999 by Sifu Lee Ngai Shing. Sifu Lee is the first international Wu Shu judge for the international competitions and Shan Shao competition. He is an experienced instructor and athlete, who has participated in numerous Martial Arts schools in Macau for over 30 years. The school is open to all students who show a willingness to learn. Classes are available at all skill levels, ages and genders.
Objective To promote and develop Chinese Martial Arts, expand our contacts and co-operate with other similar organisations to more effectively advance the objectives of the society and develop our physical health and skills. Classes
Chief Instructor - Lee Ngai Shing
Introduction to Classes Pak Mei Kung Fu Founded by a monk called Pak Mei about 300 years ago. It is an internal style that emphasises short punches and the power of the fist. It belongs to Southern Shaolin Fist, with very fierce forms which promote self-defence applications. Simplified Tai Chi We practice 24 styles of simplified Tai Chi adopted by the Chinese Wu Shu Association. Simplified Tai Chi is good for the treatment of minor disease, blood circulation and exercise for the muscles. Chen Style Tai Chi It is the oldest and most traditional form of Taiji. Apart from exercising, it also serves a defensive purpose. Combining the hard and the soft in an eloquent style. It involves alot of power in practice. Push Hands and Self Defence A basic training for self-defence and protection. Weapons Chinese traditional weapons include the double sword, tonfa, kwandao, staff, stool, tiger fork and twin-hook among others. Qi Gung We set our training based on Qi Gung for well being and health. Lion and Dragon Dance They are traditional Chinese arts performed on important dates to emphasise festive atmosphere.
